Does it matter?

Mark Mansson wrote a bestseller book with the title “The subtle art of not giving a f*ck”. The point of the book is that we have limited time, energy and emotional fortitude and that we should be highly selective in what we engage in and bother about. In his words, we only have so many f*cks to give. Why care about the opinions of people we don’t care about ourselves? Why care about failing as it’s the only way we have ever learned anything? Why bother with how something may look to others? They’re too busy worrying about their own lives. In a world that is increasingly driven by strong opinions, cancel culture and political correctness, it is very easy to get dragged along and get riled up. And don’t get me started on the media as their goal is to make every problem your problem. Unless we are going to see some world-shattering breakthroughs on medical research on longevity, none of this is going to matter in 100 years anyway. So, next time you get triggered, ask yourself whether it really matters.
