I have noticed that there are people that only care about one thing: when their next vacation is! Their life and work are such that they drag themselves through the drudgery, frustration and stress of their everyday lives simply waiting for the moment they can go on vacation. We often think of people in uneducated, low-end jobs, but I know a fair share of people in highly respectable positions that many would kill for that are profoundly unhappy with their lives but are kept in place by golden handcuffs, reputation or other external drivers. If you recognize yourself in the above, and I guess we all do to at least some extent, my advice to you and myself is that rather than focusing on your next vacation, build a life that you don’t want to escape from! What could that look like?
