Recently, I have been reading about training and food and I realized what an enormous amount of pseudoscience, partial truths and plainly false information is out there. For instance, many diets have some positive effect on people, but not because of the type of food (paleo, vegan or whatever), but because virtually all diets limit caloric intake and advise against eating processed food. I noticed I easily fall into the same trap. I have been a pescetarian since 1997 and every time there is an article on red meat being bad for you, I tend to be positively inclined to the article without having looked into the science behind it. Rationally I know that meat is just fine as a food and that the biggest health factor is your caloric intake. Of course, we all have biases and we tend to seek out information that we agree with and we tend to ignore information that we disagree with. Social media is of course a master at feeding you what you have shown a preference for in the past and is in no small part contributing to the divisions we see happen in society. So, as my challenge to you today: read something that you passionately disagree with and find three positive aspects about it!
