We tend to live a large part of our lives worrying about what other people will think of us, our actions, the way we look, the way we behave and so on. When you’ve been around the sun a couple dozen times, you slowly start to realize something really important. Nobody cares about you and your weird antics. They are way too busy thinking about themselves. We may think that people think about us because of the way they interact with us. But I have noticed many times that when someone I am talking to acts out of the ordinary, it seldom is about me and virtually always about what they happen to think about, worry about or what happened to them earlier in the day. And even if people express opinions about me, I noticed that it often says more about them than about me. So, I have stopped caring about what other people think about me. Except for a very small group including my spouse, kids, family and a select group of friends, I pay very little attention. So, as a reflection for the day: where you do worry about the opinion of others where you really don’t benefit from or are affected by? And how can you stop caring so much?
