reflection

When does one stop?

I was about to write about something else and then I realized that this will be the 200th daily reflection. I can’t believe that there have been so many and I am incredibly grateful for all the comments, thoughtful reflections, carefully phrased disagreeing viewpoints as well as encouragement. Some of the questions I get from the people close to me are why I write these and when I will stop writing. The interesting thing is that I actually write these for myself. These short posts help me reflect on and formulate thoughts that are bouncing around in my head and that would never crystallize if I didn’t write these down. In that sense, the writing of these is an integral part of my mental health practices that also include journaling and meditation. So, that means that I will most likely not stop writing these reflections, but I do not necessarily need to share these with all of you, my dearest readers. For now, the principle that I follow is that if every post gives at least one individual some food for thought, provides something positive in at least one person’s life, helps a person stop for a second to reflect, then that is good enough. Even if nobody comments. In that sense, my hope is that this gives a little bit to the community around me, while it gives something to me. So, as a daily reflection: please consider how you can give back a little bit to the community around you while helping yourself as well.
