During a trip to visit family, I observed the people around me on the plane, the train, stations, cafes, museums and so on. Most people consume content all the time. There is nothing wrong with watching a video on YouTube, reading a blogpost or scrolling through your social media feed of choice. But it can’t be the only thing you do. Humans need to create. That doesn’t need to mean painting or writing poetry. It can mean anything from building something with your hands, sharing some thoughts on LinkedIn or journaling for yourself. Many feel a significant reduction in anxiety and frustration simply by engaging in the act of creating. The challenge in the modern world is that there always are people that are infinitely better at creating than what you are. That may easily lead to a feeling of inferiority where you abstain from creating because you can’t measure up to the best in the world. But that is not the point. It is the act of creating that counts, not the result. The process and not the outcome. And, in the end, if you are genuine and true to yourself, what you create is unique in and of itself as you are unique. So, what will you create today?
