Human versus Machine

One of the viewpoints that many have is that they are competing with machines. From the Luddites that saw the weaving machines as the competition to typists in the 1960s being replaced by computers, we tend to focus on how machines replace our jobs. This is, I think, why people feel so threatened by AI. It has the promise to replace us in exactly the area where we thought humans were unique and we fear becoming obsolete. I disagree with that view. Many of the tasks that were replaced were repetitive and not that engaging to begin with. Instead, it will be the human and the machine, together, combining their respective strengths into a whole that is much more than the sum of the parts. Where do you find your 1 +1 = 10?
