Can you do something about it?

Recently I have had quite a few meetings with people that expressed very strong opinions about why the world “as it is” is really bad and how the world should be instead. When pressure testing their statements, I was met with very heated responses and implicit questioning of my moral compass. My challenge is that getting riled up about things that you can’t do anything about is akin to putting yourself in the role of a victim. In my view, that is a complete and utter waste of your energy and time. Instead, focus your energy on topics that you actually can do something about. Of course, it is always easier to get angry about something you can’t do anything about, as it allows you to keep doing what you’ve always been doing. For example, I have been a pescetarian since 1997 because I disagree with how we manage livestock in many countries. I can’t change how farms do their work, but I can decide to not eat meat. That is in my circle of control. So, as my reflection today is to ask you where you are spending your energy and time? Is it on topics that you can do something about?
