As I have referred to, I have picked the running again now that my achilles tendon is doing better and it allows me to have sessions where I run fast (by my standards). One of the observations is that when I do, I tend to tense up my shoulders and especially the traps. This is not a good idea, because you grow tired much more quickly and it actually slows you down. Instead, you should try to relax every muscle in your body not needed for the movement, which allows you to go further faster. The reflection I had is that I have noticed I do the same when I am really busy and have lots of things to do. I get stressed, my mind starts spinning and I constantly plan what the next task is that I need to get going on after I finish the thing that I am working on right now. The problem is that all this distracts me from what I am doing at the moment and it’s not like it helps me in any way. It just slows me down and makes me tired. Instead, I need to focus on the here and now, finish what I need to do and only then switch context and move to the next thing. So, as a daily reflection, do you notice yourself tensing up, getting stressed and distracted? And if so, what can you do to stay in the now?
