Don’t feel like it?

Last weekend, my wife listed a long list of chores that we really should complete at some point. And I told her that I agreed that these chores needed to be done, but also clearly shared that I didn’t feel like getting going on these during this weekend. Then I managed to convince myself to complete one, small chore. And the dopamine kick of that convinced me to take on the slightly larger second chore. And the process kept going until we had completed the majority of our list. Of course, we all know this: a task or set of tasks may seem like an unsurmountable mountain. But once we take the first, small step in the right direction, we are in motion and it’s much easier to keep going. Instead of focusing on the entire mountain, focus on conducting the first step. So, as my daily reflection, what mountain are you standing in front of and avoiding to take on? And what is the first, small step that you can take?
