There is a famous quote by Lao Tzu: "Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear?” The idea is that there is a right time for everything and you need to make sure you act at the right time. Not too late. Not too early. This morning I was out for my run in Sandsjöbacka with the intent of extending my run with another 2K or so in order to expand my capacity. But the body was not really there and my calf and achilles started to complain after an hour. Although I could have pushed and extended my run and it might have been OK, I decided to cut my run short and go home. Now, this is really not my preferred way of doing things. I much rather stick to the plan, push through the pain and make it happen. But it easily does more damage than what it is worth. I think this is true in our professional lives as well. It’s easy to enter situations as a bull in a China shop because you know you are right. But what good will it do and how will it damage your relationships with others? So, my question is whether you have the patience to wait for the right time to act?
