Accelerating the adoption of digital — software, data and AI — technologies in industry and society.

Reconceptualize!

Yesterday, I spent an entire afternoon writing on a different way to define the software development lifecycle (SDLC). With big data, DevOps and GenAI, we need to think fundamentally differently about how to develop and evolve software. I noticed how stuck I am in the old way of thinking and how easily I fall back into the old concepts. The challenge is that the old conceptualization is the problem. As Einstein famously said, no problem can be solved in the same paradigm that gave rise to it. So, I had to force myself to start from a zero-based thinking approach. To reject any existing concepts. To force myself to come up with new ones to describe what I believe is the right way to look at this challenge. I believe that in times of rapid change, everyone needs to let go of what they used to know. Experience becomes a liability instead of an asset. We need to reconceptualize. So, my challenge to you today is: what thinking framework and set of concepts do you need to let go of? And what is the better lens to look through?
