Wherever you go, there you are

Jon Kabat-Zinn, meditation teacher, wrote a book with the title “wherever you go, there you are”. In life, we often have a tendency to try to escape a situation or even ourselves when things become uncomfortable. One example is the use of alcohol and other mind-altering drugs that numb us and that can be used as a crutch to cope. Another is vacation where people travel far away simply to escape their day to day reality. The weird thing is that even when you emerge from the plane after 12 hours of flying, you are still you and all the baggage that you’re carrying is right there with you. And even if you experience relief while you are out there, when you return nothing has changed. So, the question is how you craft a life that you don’t want to escape from. What would that life look like?
