SSDD?

Many of the people I meet in the companies that I work with, when I ask them how they’re doing, often give me an answer that is a polite version of SSDD (same sh*t; different day). Now, I am the first to acknowledge that as humans we need routines and recurring activities. I schedule my meetings with my PhD students on Mondays at 13:00 and it’s a model that works well for me, my co-supervisors and the PhD candidates. However, when we get too much in terms of routines and repetition in our life, there is too little novelty, too little learning, too little intellectual stimulation and we become bored. According to the Buddhists, boredom is a form of not paying attention to what is right in front of us, but I find it hard to break through the boredom at times. So, as your vacation is coming up, if you feel that your life is too much SSDD, then spend some time thinking about how to solve it?
