reflection

Why do you get out of bed in the morning?

In his book Search for Meaning, Viktor Frankl claims that "those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how'.” The insight came from his time in the German concentration camps, including Auschwitz, where he noticed that people who did not have a clear ‘why’ simply gave up and died. Similarly, Benjamin Franklin claimed that “many men die at age 25, but aren’t buried until they’re 75.” It is so easy to get on the treadmill of life and keep running in the direction that you or others set a long time ago. One of the things we need to be critically clear on is what our purpose is. What do we put our life energy toward? What is my ‘why’? And, of course, what is yours?
