Today is the National Day in Sweden. I have spent now 20 years of my life in this country, i.e. 6 years in the 90s and now 14 years since moving back in 2011. Since leaving the Netherlands in 1994, I have lived here, in Finland, Canada and in California. I have even been back in the Netherlands for a few years in early 2000s. Each of those countries (states) are wonderful in their own right, but for me (and many Swedes are surprised as I say this) Sweden is the best country to live in. Like any country, it has its fair share of challenges and I am not blind to those. Also, the country has changed quite a bit since I moved here in 1994. But in my, view it has managed many of the challenges better than other countries and it is truly a wonderful place to live. So, congratulations and a heartfelt thanks to all the Swedes who make this country happen and who let this Dutch guy live among you!
